Braden Looper threw a complete game 3-hit shutout Wednesday in what will hopefully be a rallying point for his up-and-down season. (I just conferred with the ESPN story on the game and they actually used the phrase 'up-and-down' to describe Looper's season. I kid you not. Maybe I'm pursuing the wrong dream... I need to start looking into an ESPN career rather than creating a crazy local website.)
Ankiel and LaRue homered in the 10-0 shellacking. It was Ankiel's second homer in two days which looks like a good indication to me that his injury is behind him.
In a separate story ESPN reports that, "Albert Pujols is expected to miss at least three weeks with a strained left calf, a major setback to a St. Louis Cardinals team already thinned by injuries."
The Cardinals also put Wainwright on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. I imagine that will be retroactive to Saturday because that was the day he injured it against Houston.
Despite all these injuries the Cardinals are sitting pretty with the 4th best record in all of baseball, yet you rarely hear anyone in the national media mention that little fact.
